applications, and the cost of obtaining design patent protection are accordingly
lower. The usual cost of filing a design patent application is $1,260.00, and

The majority of design patent cases can be
filed for about $1200.00. The cost of additional prosecution, if any, is usually
$200.00 - $300.00. An issue fee for a small entity (less than 500 employees),
payable to the United Sates Patent and Trademark Office upon allowance of the
patent, is $240.00 - $480.00 for the fourteen year term of the design patent,
and no fees are necessary to maintain a design patent in force. (The issue
fee is $480.00 for entities with 500 or more employees) Fees and miscellaneous
expenses associated with payment of the issue fee usually amount to $350.00
in addition to the formal drawing fees. |
